Variability of Selected Traits in Meadow Fescue (Festuca pratensis Huds.) Plants with Different Susceptibility to Seed Shattering

چکیده

In meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis Huds.), a perennial fodder grass plant characterized by high quality and yield potential, seed shattering makes production difficult. The objective of the research was to compare two subpopulations, differing in tendency shattering, with respect their variability beginning heading flowering stages, morphological traits (plant height panicle length), changes occurring at site bonding between caryopsis pedicel. subpopulations were obtained divergent selection carried out on four cultivars. Significant years tested found. subpopulation low 2–3 day delay stages. However, both good stage synchronization found, its being several times smaller when compared stage. Between starting dates these significant correlation found (r = 0.828; p < 0.01). clones approximately 7 cm shorter, while length panicles similar subpopulations. analysis, which performed use scanning microscope, showed that, genotypes formation abscission layer days late, may confirm effectiveness selection.

Nucleotide diversity of vernalization and flowering-time-related genes in a germplasm collection of meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis Huds. syn. Lolium pratense (Huds.) Darbysh.)

In plant species, control of flowering time is an important factor for adaptation to local natural environments. The Vrn1 , CO , FT1 and CK2α genes are key components in the flowering-specific signaling pathway of grass species. Meadow fescue is an agronomically important forage grass species, which is naturally distributed across Europe and Western Asia. In this study, meadow fescue flowering-...

Effect of Seed Storage on Integrity of Grass Germplasm

Experiment on estimation of qualitative changes in populations of meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis Huds.) after seed storage in different conditions were taken. Phenotypical traits for plants derived from seeds stored during 54 months in two different kind of storage conditions were compared. Storage of meadow fescue seed during 54 months in unfavourable conditions resulted in decrease of initi...

Separation of Chlorophyll Degradation from Other Senescence Processes in Leaves of a Mutant Genotype of Meadow Fescue (Festuca pratensis L.).

Chlorophyll levels in l-cm sections of the youngest fully expanded leaves of normal (Y) Festuca pratensis L. declined almost to zero over a period of 6 days after excision. Chlorophyll in a mutant genotype (NY) remained near the initial level for the whole of this period. Abscisic acid promoted pigment loss in Y but had no significant effect on chlorophyll in NY. Kinetin retarded pigment loss i...

تأثیر قارچ‌های اندوفایت در بهبود ویژگی‌های فنوتیپی فسکیوی بلند (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) و فسکیوی مرتعی (Festuca pratensis Huds.) بومی ایران

A symbiotic relationship exists between the endophytic fungi of the genus Neotyphodium and many cool-season grasses. Endophytes can alter the growth as well as morphological and physiological characteristics of the host plant, thereby influencing the persistence and survival rate of infected plants. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of endophyte on phenotypic characteristics of I...
